Summer Day Adventure
This five-week program engages students in grades 6-8 in arts-in-education programming, literacy, sports and field trips during day camp hours. Partnering organizations such as The Caribbean Cultural Center, International Center of Photography, and Cirque du Monde contribute to an engrossing experience for the campers.
An arts and literacy-based sleep away, Camp “Q” gives kids in grades 6-8 from the South Bronx the chance to leave their familiar urban settings for a breath of fresh air in the woods of upstate New York. Students take part in creative workshops and outdoor activities including swimming, all camp hikes and sports.
Summer Youth Leadership
Teens have the opportunity to learn leadership, teamwork, mentoring and first aid skills and help staff THE POINT’s Summer Youth Programs as junior counselors and activity specialists through this program. Summer Youth Leaders are comprised of teens from the community and the Department of Youth and Community Development’s Summer Youth Employment Program.
A.C.T.I.O.N. Summer Internship
THE POINT’s teen community leadership group A.C.T.I.O.N. (Activists Coming to Inform Our Neighborhood) engages ten stipend teen activists throughout the summer months to continue the group’s social and environmental justice campaigns. A.C.T.I.O.N. also works to connect teens with summer internship opportunities outside THE POINT!
